Finish What You Started

My family and I have been living on the mission field since 2005. That may not seem like long, but it is long enough to see many people come and go. Some have come and gone simply because their commitment was fulfilled, others because the Lord moved them to new ministries. Still others have left for more difficult reasons.

But, all of the missionaries I’ve met shared one thing in common, we’ve all contemplated quitting at some point. I have seen and learned a lot since 2005. It has been well said that experience can be one of our greatest teachers. Here are some of the things that will make it easier for someone to not only survive but thrive in your ministry and on the mission field.

At first, I thought I would just write this in one post. But I realized that I had a lot more to say. That’s no surprise to those of you that know me well. So, I’ve decided to write a blog series. In this series I will write about the lessons and insights that I have gained on the mission field. While this is written with missionaries in mind, most of the principles apply to everyone in ministry, at any level. So I hope you take the time to read them. More than that, I hope you find value in them. Ministry, and missions, is hard. These posts are designed to give you another perspective that will hopefully encourage you and strengthen you so that you can survive, and thrive in your call.

This post will serve as the table of contents for this series. As I publish each post it will be linked here. Here’s a glimpse of what’s to come. Let me know what you think in the comments. Also feel free to leave suggestions for potential posts. This list of topics may change or be rearranged as needed, in order to create better flow.

Thanks for stopping by Dominick. While my experience has been largely drawn from the mission field, I hope it will be helpful to all believers.
